We believe that access to education is a right that every child should have from an early age. Education and literacy equip people with the necessary skills to earn a living and the knowledge and decision making abilities required to give them more control over their lives. It empowers girls against gender based discrimination which is common throughout Africa.
Yet many parents cannot afford school fees for their children. Even if the school has no fees they still struggle to pay for pens, books, transport and uniforms. Nyodema wishes to continue supporting the Jeddah Progress Nursery School. The school is entirely self-funded and many parents cannot afford the fees and, therefore, the school in turn cannot afford to pay the teachers a fair wage.
For an annual donation of £20 (individual) or £30 (couple/family) you can become a “Friend of Nyodema” and help more children in The Gambia benefit from an education throughout their most formative years.
